The Plant Engineer is responsible for the development and execution of capital projects and machine reliability for the combined polyisocyanurate (ISO) insulation, thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) single-ply commercial roofing, and injection molded ridge vent manufacturing plants. This role will assist in the plant startup of our brand new polyisocyanurate (ISO) insulation plant. The Plant Engineer, in partnership with the Maintenance Department, will manage ongoing capital needs, coordinating plant shutdowns and down days with the Maintenance Department. The Plant Engineer has impeccable planning and execution skills and is an effective communicator. He/She is responsible for meeting all safety, quality, service, and cost goals for all capital projects.
The Plant Engineer reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for all lines TPO / ISO / IM to achieve optimum manufacturing performance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
A BS degree in engineering, preferably Chemistry, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering is required with 7+ years of the combined project, reliability, and/or controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety with experience with manufacturing controls.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide technical support to operating departments in statistical applications, process capability assessment, and problem-solving.
Coordinate resources to ensure timely and accurate execution of plant projects for process improvement and new product development efforts.
Develop a detailed long-range budget for the plant’s annual capital expenditures to present to Corporate Engineering and Finance.
Support all plant products, processes, and materials trials.
Ensure that plant operations conform to technically and environmentally related OSHA and EPA requirements.
Implement cost reduction opportunities and means to strengthen the organization.
Improve machine reliability and plant efficiency using root cause analysis tools including Pareto charts, 5 whys, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, etc.
Create and maintain a culture to identify and implement continuous improvement ideas.
Identify controls and automation upgrade opportunities, and implement upgrades with our corporate controls group.
Assist the maintenance team in troubleshooting major production line issues.
Maintain compliance with safety standards, housekeeping, and personnel policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
Ability to troubleshoot and solve production challenges
Familiar with standard manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures
Familiar with Programmable Logic Circuits (PLCs), Ladder logic, and drive interface (HMI). Preferably Allen Bradley experience.
Knowledge of Google applications; docs, sheets, slides, etc. is preferred. Basic computer skills are required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably ChemE, EE or ME)
Preferably 7+ years of demonstrated manufacturing experience
Proven leadership and teambuilding skills.
Advanced communication skills and G Suite proficiency.
Should have knowledge of rotating equipment, machine design, bearings/lubrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronics (PLCs/HMI/Programming).
