Crucible Industries LLC engages primarily in the manufacture of high technology specialty metals products for end-uses involving application in extreme environments and requiring superior metallurgical performance. The product lines include high end stainless, alloy, automotive valve and tool steels with the principal markets for the Company’s products being capital goods, aerospace, power generation, automotive and related industrial machining industries.
We are seeking a Process/ Manufacturing Engineer/Metallurgist to support our mill operations in Syracuse, New York.
Provide metallurgical and technical expertise for the metal processing procedures required to achieve defined customer specifications
Develop, complete and report on process and product improvement projects
Recommend improvement for increased efficiency, quality and conformance
Ensure compliance with all quality system procedures and requirements
Knowledge of the metallurgical casting process and casting parameters
Investigate metallurgical failure using root cause analysis
Improve process yields using various data analysis techniques (statistical, mathematical, DOE, 6 Sigma, etc.) to uncover variables in the process
Audit material for adherence to established techniques to ensure repeatability
Identify, evaluate and implement new process technologies that will extend manufacturing and product capabilities
Ensure organization objectives are achieved
Maintain a positive and professional work atmosphere
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with Metallurgy or Materials Science background preferred
Two (2) to five (5) years professional experience in melting or manufacturing with metallurgical testing and process application preferred.
Specialty steel background with market knowledge preferred
Other Required Knowledge: Knowledge of casting process, molten metal handling procedures, supervision of hourly personnel
Excellent organizational and documentation skills
