As an Automation and Control Design Engineer at Sensata, you will be tasked to work as an individual contributor within a dedicated and talented engineering team. This will involve designing, testing, installing and maintaining production line manufacturing equipment in a global environment. This position requires the one to take ownership of all aspects of the design project including defining the hardware control system architecture, system software development, and configuration management and creating documentation packages.
This position requires the individual to be able to work within multi-disciplined product teams to ensure that the end system is both cost effective and optimal to meet the needs of the business.
Bachelor of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
Depth of knowledge around computer programming and software development
Strong C/C++/C# skills
Conceptual knowledge of system integration
Ability to specify components and design control circuits (e.g., motor controls, machine safety, temperature control, power distribution, and low voltage control)
Understanding of network systems architectures and management
Lead or participates in engineering design reviews as required
Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests
Ability to communicate and interface well with other members of the development team
5+ years’ of related experience working on hardware/software design, test and integration
Approximately 20% international travel
Experience in related areas would be a plus:
Knowledge of OPC UA
Knowledge of Solid Works Electrical
Knowledge of embedded systems based on various custom/COTS ASICs and related protocol interfaces (LIN, SENT, MUST, FMUST, One Wire, etc.)
PLC programming experience with Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi products
Knowledge of Cognex and Keyence vision systems
