Situation in Organization
Reports to Process Innovation Manager – 3D Printing. Works closely with supply chain and operations. This position has no direct reports.
The 3D Process Operations Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing and supply chain solutions for the Sartomer 3D product lines, including development, manufacturing, packaging and labeling of fully formulated 3D Printing resins at the Chatham and West Chester manufacturing sites. The incumbent will ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of 3D product lines in order to achieve business objectives.
For 3D product lines, the Process Operations Specialist will implement new manufacturing solutions; provide leadership and coaching to Production and Logistics personnel; ensure the plant meets raw material and finished good requirements; operate within forecasted plant volume demand; meet customer expectations through continual improvement in product and process quality. The Process Development Engineer will communicate process and quality information to stakeholders and customers and lead process improvement initiatives and root cause investigations.
The individual will work closely with the Process Innovation Manager to build customer partnerships leading to a deep understanding of customer needs, and translating that understanding into actionable plan for the internal organication to deliver commercial resins.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
Safety and Environmental (25%):
Actively participate in safety programs to ensure a safe work environment and compliance. Maintain good understanding of regulatory environment and prepare registration documentation as processes.
Ensure that all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated and corrective actions implemented.
Demonstrates commitment to HES through high visibility and actions.
Works with leadership to implement novel solutions at cross-functional level: Collaborate with Technical (Platform and Pilot), Supply-Chain, HES, Regulatory, Manufacturing and Commercial teams to deliver novel materials/formulations with diverse pigmentation, packaging and labeling requirements.
Leads multiple development projects including idea conception, project execution and implementation. Advocates for project resources, as needed. Presents findings, recommendations and cost benefit analysis to management.
Utilizes NPD Process to identify risk/gaps during Product Development and proactively address these hurdles
Production / Supply Chain (35%):
Coordinates resources to meet short and long-term production forecast through S&OP Process ensuring goals and commitments are met.
Participate in monthly meetings with Supply Chain to determine plant production requirements for NPD scale ups and existing ongoing demand.
Input to Production Scheduler to set or change schedules.
Prioritize projects and activities with ambiguous and incomplete information to deliver maximum business impact.
Coordinate production with planned and unplanned maintenance activities and production turnarounds.
Monitor daily production, shipping activities, product quality and direct adjustments to production and shipping plans as appropriate. Ensure continuous evaluation and implementation of improvements.
Drive continuous improvement in our processes
Customer Support (15%):
Understand customer raw material requirements including supplier, specs, packaging, etc
Understand customer supply chain requirements including packaging, packaging size, manufacturing requirements, etc.
Ensure customer contractual agreements, KPI’s, procedures and customer requirements are met to avoid any nonconformance or penalties.
Develop processes and procedures for specific customer requirements
Prepare weekly and monthly reports to meet customer, plant and business requirements.
Context and Environment
High profile position within the plant which works with all levels and areas of business to lead 3D manufacturing and supply chain projects and programs and to provide oversight which will have a positive impact on the overall performance of the 3D Business Unit.
The jobholder has direct daily involvement with 3D-related activities in the facility and coordinates with the West Chester and Chatham manufacturing sites.
Significant direct interaction with Supply Chain Director, Warehouse Manager, Manufacturing Director, Business Managers and Plant Managers.
Must be willing to travel up to 25%.
Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.
Required Education/Qualifications/Work Experience
Degree in engineering, supply chain, business, or related field
5+ years industrial experience/supply chain experience or 3+ years previous operations experience in a directly related field
Master’s degree a plus
Six sigma certification at green belt level a plus
Strong experience working with cross functional teams
Root Cause Investigation Experience
