A Survey Rodman assist crews in performing quantity surveys, field measurements and construction layout on dredging projects. The Survey Rodman also assist in the maintenance and cleaning of equipment required to perform survey operations. The Survey Rodman takes technical direction from the Surveyor and Field Engineers that ultimately report to the Project Engineer.
Essential Job Functions
Assist in operations of varying survey-engineering instruments and devices to measure distances and collect data, make cross section. location, profile, topographic and construction layout surveys.
Learn to set up various pieces of equipment to maintain grade for fill operations
Responsible for maintaining logbooks for stakeout operations
Maintain neat and legible field notes for survey operations.
Coordinate survey activities with the field engineer to meet schedule requirements
Maintain inventory of required equipment to perform project.
Daily cleaning and organization of survey equipment and supplies
Support fill crews to minimize downtime and streamline process.
Follows company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an “Incident and Injury Free” work environment
Life Guard experience preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent
Must be able to follow direction.
May be required to work overtime at moment notice.
Ability to conduct earthwork volume computations
Must be able to operate independently.
40-50 hours per week
This position requires fluent use of the verbal and written English language
Required Certifications or Licenses
Driver’s license with clean driving record
TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential
Must be able to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels
Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders that have capacity limits of 300 lbs.
Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50
