Work under the direction of Electrical Engineers for assigned projects and duties.
Work closely with other engineers/designers/drafters in the group as well as others in other departments.
Create Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) drawings based on input including sketches, marked drawings and verbal descriptions. This requires familiarity with Bentley MicroStation CAD software or equivalent (AutoCad).
Prepare engineering cost estimates for proposed projects based on a general description of the work and an investigation of site conditions using standardized unit construction costs. Prepare preliminary design sketches and Scope of Work descriptions for the proposed project corresponding to the cost estimates.
Design under 600 V electrical distribution systems that are compliant with the NEC Code and all state and local codes.
Design 5kV and 15KV electrical distribution systems that are compliant with the National Electric Safety Code and all state and local codes.
Assist in the management of railroad construction projects by coordinating contractors, railroad personnel, utility systems and other parties. Conduct onsite bid and pre-construction meeting. Monitor construction quality and progress and prepare reports for management.
Review consultant designed electrical projects and prepare comments on the proposed designs.
Ability to travel to gather field information and conduct or attend meetings on projects.
Familiar with Microsoft Office.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
