General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Nuclear Monitoring Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to design and develop systems, processes and tools that support internal and client operations. You will join a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists responsible for the operations, maintenance and sustainment of an international network of radionuclide monitoring stations of the International Monitoring System for verification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty.

What you bring to the table:
A Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required; Agile experience preferred
Clear understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles and theories
Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical skills is necessary. Actual hands on electrical and/or mechanical experience desired
Ability to build and maintain skill sets of a field engineer capable of leading maintenance visits to 24 remote nuclear monitoring stations throughout the CTBTO IMS Network both domestically and internationally
Maintain a working knowledge of treaty related requirements for the program and systems involved with treaty verification to include performance specifications, operations and maintenance procedures, reporting requirements and related support activities.
Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
Coordinate with engineers to produce test summary documentation of detailed systems and subsystems utilizing maintenance protocols
Coordinate with engineers to complete incoming inspection and verification testing checklists following written procedures
What sets you apart:
Knowledge of Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, nuclear sensor technology, spectroscopy, noble gas science and data acquisition.
Able to interpret complicated drawings and cross references
Proficiency with using Atlassian Jira and Confluence tools is a plus
Proficiency with computers and Windows applications is necessary, knowledge of Linux is a plus
