Our strength is derived from the diversity of our marine-related work and our staff. WSP is currently initiating a search for a Maritime Structural Supervising Engineer in our Miami, Florida office. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for Maritime projects or groups of smaller capital projects, including the management of schedules, budgets, and client expectations. You will participate in the formulation and presentation of technical concepts in proposal development, during the design phase, and for existing client presentation. Additionally, you will be engaged in the growth and development of our team by providing mentorship, technical guidance, and participation in the hiring and evaluation of junior staff. Duties and Responsibilities: -Perform structural calculations and prepare structural drawings and technical specifications. -Review of construction phase submittals including respond to Requests for information (RFI) and vendor drawings to assure compliance with drawings and specifications. -Prepare technical studies and reports -Prepare cost estimates for marine projects -Manage/ lead projects, tasks and staff for marine facility projects, including various types of cargo terminals (e.g. container, bulk, break-bulk) and clients (port authorities, private terminals, public agencies, etc.). -Maintaining schedules, budgets, and profitability. -Perform business development and general marketing activities. Maintain positive client relationships. -Participate in preparation of technical proposals, presentation, negotiations, and staff estimates. -Coordinating with other design disciplines such as coastal, marine structures, port planning, geotechnical, survey, utilities, etc. -Collaborating with management to determine long-range plans and objectives, including recommendations on project staffing, and evaluating and mentoring subordinate staff.
10 - 17 years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering.
Competency in state-of-the-art computer programs (AutoCAD or MicroStation, ADINA, Staad.Pro or SAP200). Proficient with StructurePoint and Optimoor software.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Self-motivated, flexible and capable if working in a fast-paced work environment.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Candidate must be able to work in the United States on a full-time permanent basis immediately. Visa sponsorship not offered for this position.
Education & Accreditation Requirement:
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college/university in Structural Engineering.
A Master’s Degree will be strongly considered but not required.
Candidate shall possess a PE registration in the state of Florida or be able to obtain within 6 months.
Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card which requires a TSA background check.
