Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (aka HVRP aka Helping Veterans Receive Paychecks) ensures that Veterans receive the employment and training services they need to get good jobs. HVRP offers job counseling, resume preparation, job placement, and follow–up. HVRP provides immediate transitional housing on–site and through referrals to VOALA Pathways to Home. Program staff ensures that participants receive essential supportive services such as clothing, shelter, referral to medical or substance use disorder treatments, and transportation assistance — either within VOALA or at another agency in the community.
Conduct employ-ability assessments of potential participants, this includes assessing level of ability and readiness for work, and physical and mental capabilities of participants
Develop an individualized employment plan with each participant based on the assessments
Conduct comprehensive screenings and assessments with veterans to collect functional, environmental, financial, employment, housing, educational, and health information, as appropriate, to develop a service plan the complements the employment plan
Develop linkages and coordinate services with support systems needed by participants to secure and maintain independent living, self-sufficiency and family stabilization
Provide job readiness skills training (soft skills) in areas of resume preparation, interviewing and job search techniques; provides career counseling and job coaching
Develop and coordinate linkages with job skills training resources in high-demand fields
Develop a resource base of employers committed to giving priority hiring attention to HVRP
Arrange interviews with employers and work with participants on job retention issues
Coordinate with veteran, community and private employment resources to ensure participant has access to available services
Document and maintain complete records as required; monitor and verify services provided
Represent the interests of Volunteers of America of Los Angeles, the HVRP program and its participants in all networking and public relations opportunities
Required Background and Skills:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education; additional experience may be substituted for educational requirement
Minimum of two years' experience working as a Job Developer and/or Case Manager with demonstrated skills in working with vulnerable populations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; effective written and oral communications skills
Valid California driver's license and dependable transportation with adequate insurance
Ability to establish and maintain strong partnerships with employers and community contacts
Preferred Skills for this Position:
US Armed Forces veteran preferred, not required
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
