Design Technologist/ Engineer

Established in 1919, Fort Garry Fire Trucks is Canada’s leading manufacturer of quality fire trucks. Fort Garry Fire Trucks is looking to hire a full time Design Technologist/ Engineer for a 12 month term position with the possibility of becoming permanent. As a Design Technologist/ Engineer at Fort Garry Fire Trucks you will work closely with the engineering and manufacturing team to prepare engineering designs, provide technical expertise for manufacturing components and installations, and propose design changes or revisions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Create engineering designs for new systems and customer specific designs
  • Prepare technical drawings of components and assemblies
  • Provide technical expertise for specified installations or components
  • Assist in troubleshooting problems in the manufacturing process and provide design solutions
  • Prepare design revisions or corrections and the related drawings

Applicant Requirements:

  • Mechanical design experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD or similar CAD software
  • Fluent spoken and written English and good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team in a professional manner
  • Post- secondary education in a related field or equivalent training
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision, multi-task, and meet deadlines
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Reliable transportation; bussing is not available at our location


  • Experience using Auto CAD
  • Knowledge of weldment design, sheet metal fabrication, and structural fabrication processes
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting
