Purpose of Job
We are seeking a talented Mainframe Storage Engineer for our offices in San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX or 100% Remote Work Environment.
Note: The candidate selected for this position is going to get to work with the Host Services Storage team as part of the Infrastructure Services Organization. They will work with cutting edge Mainframe Storage related technologies on various perfective and evolutionary projects for our internal and external business partners.
Responsible for creating, modifying, maintaining and supporting infrastructure and individual system components that enable business functions and IT Services. Balance availability, security, efficiency and functional requirements to help provide an optimized production service. Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and ensure these risks are effectively identified and escalated to be measured, monitored and controlled.

Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.
Designs scalable infrastructure with minimal oversight, implements system change with consistency and autonomy, automates service delivery and maintenance tasks, and builds monitoring and tooling for systems.
Resolves complex production issues with independence by troubleshooting complex systems independently
Analyzes complex outages in order to identify opportunities
Experiments with new patterns and technologies
Understands and consistently exercises engineering best practices, concepts, and patterns
Understands the customer and identifies solutions and ideas for the customer with some assistance
Evaluates potential solutions with some oversight
May begin mentoring junior engineers.
Minimum Education/Experience requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field of study,
Certification from an approved technical field of study,
4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required.
4+ years of infrastructure experience demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific discipline(s)/technology(s).
3+ years’ experience with Dfsms / Dfhsm
3+ years’ experience with Disk and Tape storage frame hardware-based replication
Experience with TDMF
Experience with Disaster Recovery testing

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $88,200 - $158,900* (this does not include geographic differential, it may be applied based on your work location)
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.
Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
