Zions Bancorporation is currently seeking an experienced Virtualization Engineer to help move many of our current platforms to the cloud, while ensuring on-going performance of our current infrastructure.
Migrating infrastructure to off-prem/on-prem cloud platforms
Virtualization Application Performance Monitoring and Management.
Act as the Strategic pathfinder for the organizations Virtualization platform. Act as a project lead for objectives related to Virtualization. Research/Evaluate projects as assigned, providing formal documentation of findings and conclusions according to established departmental standards.
Extensive interfacing, collaboration, and coordination of efforts with our business partners and customers (internal).
Implementation of system upgrades and modifications, including planning, testing, scheduling, and coordination. Ensures that change management and defined security procedures for all assigned systems are executed in accordance with organizational standards.
Minimizes service interruptions through early identification and resolution of problems.
Analyze monitoring and maintenance data and implements changes as required to achieve performant workloads.
Proactively identify trends, determine incident root causes, and manage adverse events from identification to resolution.
Perform research, analysis, system design, documentation, testing implementation and on-going support for the end user workspace environment.
Mitigates risk by following established standards for vulnerability remediation.
Maintain and perform tuning on various virtualization technologies in coordination with Cloud/Server /Storage infrastructure teams.
Direct Data Center technicians remotely on hardware upgrades and maintenance.
Provide emergency support for system issues.
Perform capacity planning to monitor and refine capacity metrics/needs on a continuous basis.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Vmware/Citrix technologies.
2+ Years of experience with implementing, deploying, and supporting infrastructure.
Experience with VMware 6.x/7.x, SRM, NSX, VRA, VRO, and VrOps.
Knowledge of PowerShell and PowerCLI scripting.
Strong project management skills.
Working knowledge of the ITIL framework including Change, Incident and Problem Management.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including DNS, TCP/IP, Routing protocols.
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
In-depth knowledge of Virtualization-Storage interface methodologies (SDRS/Thin-on-Thin, Replication Datastores, etc.
Experience installing and configuring systems from BareMetal for HP, Dell, Cisco (scripting experience a plus)
Creative and Analytical thinker
Understanding of Storage Capabilities and Pros and Cons of NFS, Block, Fiber Channel, etc. are beneficial.
