Responsible for planning, controlling and coordinating engineering and design activities related to new and existing company products.Works with all departments within the company to ensure that product specifications, performance, durability, quality, cost and manufacturing requirements are met. Participates in design of new products.

Position Responsibilities:
Creates new and innovative products, product enhancements or new technologies to meet market needs.

Plans, designs, implements and executes Engineering projects assuring that quality, reliability, serviceability, safety, cost/performance objectives are established and met.

Work with suppliers to coordinate prototyping activities and to insure design expectations are met.

Work closely with customers worldwide to design new innovative products.

Performs all necessary structural and motion calculations required.

Ensures that designs meet the structural and ergonomic requirements as defined by the customer and any state and federal regulations.

Conduct regular design reviews to assure that designs meet required specifications.

Work closely with manufacturing, quality control and procurement for the implementation of new products.

Review all documentation for design feasibility and accuracy.

Keeps abreast of new design, manufacturing and material development practices.

Overseas travel may be required.

Additional duties as requested.

Supports “Lean Business Enterprise” initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination.

Position Requirements (Knowledge and Experience):
3 plus years’ experience in engineering design environment, preferably in an industry or environment similar to that of Ergotron.

BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

2 plus years’ experience in design of consumer product (electro-mechanical and mechanical)

2 plus years’ experience in areas of machine design, sheet metal, injection molding and aluminum alloy castings desirable.

Experience with consumer products (electro-mechanical) design and manufacturing.

Clear understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal, welding, injection molding, extrusion and casting.

Knowledge of engineering practices and documentation methods including bills of material and engineering change orders.

Self-motivated, creative and capable of handling and prioritizing multiple projects.

Proficient in Excel, Word, project management software and SolidWorks (or other 3D parametric modeling software).

Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Oracle and Salesforce.(Use for Sales, Global Services and other departments using these systems)

Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job as described to you for the position.
