Dematic has an immediate need in our New Berlin, WI for Mechanical Systems / Structural Engineer 4. The successful candidates must have a strong fundamental knowledge of structural analysis and steel design, a structural engineering background, including experience on rack design including ASRS application. Experience in the material handling industry designing structural steel is highly preferred. The successful candidate will have good communication, problem-solving and organizational skills. Travel approximation is 25%.
Job Family Responsibilities:
Responsible for rack application and system design along with integrating rack modules for use with complex systems involving mechanical equipment, electrical controls hardware and software. Develops complex material specifications, schematic/drawings preparation and appropriate follow-up. Develops recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvements in customer satisfaction. Guides complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design.
The successful candidate will coordinate Dematic North America’s racking initiatives. Candidate displays a high level of critical thinking in bringing the successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems. This will require strong fundamental knowledge and responsibility in the key areas of:
Rack Design or Designing Steel Structures:
Familiarity with general USA design standards (in addition, North American design standards is beneficial, but not a requirement)
Familiarity with AISC LRFD Specification for Structural Steel Buildings
Familiarity with AISI Specification for Cold-formed Steel Design
Familiarity with RMI Specification for Design, Testing and Utilization of Industrial Steel Storage Racks
Familiarity with FEM 9.831/9.832 codes
Familiarity to design in seismic areas
Steel Structure Design
Design cold rolled sections
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
RISA 2D/3D or equivalent
What We Are Looking For
B.S. in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or advanced degree is required (Structural emphasis preferred). Professional Engineer (PE) certification is required.
Knowledge and Experience:
Demonstrates and applies a comprehensive knowledge of the field of Structural Engineering for the successful completion of the complex assignment.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of area specialization.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of organizations business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues.
Demonstrates integrity, is highly analytical, and has a strong desire to be deeply involved in the business. Must be organized and methodical in their work, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt easily to change. Minimum of 8 years of successful experience in the related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree may be substituted for experience, where applicable.
