Job Summary/Description:
WIS Television, the #1 station in Columbia, SC, is seeking a full-time Broadcast/IT Engineer. This position reports to the Chief Engineer as part of an active team where you will be empowered to make decisions and lead project implementation. We challenge the team to never settle and always get the most out of every piece of technology in new and creative ways. Serving the other employees, supporting station initiatives and making sure that WIS continues our market dominance is what this team is about. Maintaining our IP based workflow from Ross Overdrive, VIZRT Graphics, video editors, network switches and virtual machines we handle it all and use the strengths of each team member to make each other better.
Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems, and applications within the company.
- Troubleshoot local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and networked systems.
- Routine maintenance of hardware and software, such as performing software upgrades and file backups on the network daily, weekly, or monthly.
- Solve IT Help Desk problems promptly.
- Assist computer users through phone, email, or in-person.
- Train users to work with new computer hardware or software.
- Set up or repair broadcast equipment, computer equipment and related devices.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- IT certifications (ex. CompTIA A+, MTA, CCNA etc.) preferred.
- A degree in computer science or a related technology field is preferred.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in computer user support.
- Time management skills and the ability to establish reasonable and attainable deadlines for resolution are required.
