This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining existing and new software projects with primary focus on support of EDI software to include project management and identification and implementation of improvements to software and systems to ensure the system(s) meet the business’ needs. This position has the potential be a remote position in a state/jurisdiction where Deringer is registered for employment, for qualified candidates.
Writes the design and specifications for complex reports and programs, and provides proper testing of code.
Evaluates user requests for new or modified computer programs to determine feasibility including cost, time required and compatibility with current systems.
Implements Customs mandated changes within specified time periods and effectively and promptly communicates changes to internal customers.
Interfaces with government agencies on new requirements for internal system changes.
Develops system requirements after thoroughly understanding user needs for internally developed programs or for vendor developed programs.
Develops documentation and trains users.
Provides programming and analysis support for internally developed products.
Reviews computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested changes to operating system are possible.
Performs routine and on-call systems support.
Analyzes discrepancies and system failures.
Determines and performs corrective action.
Provides production, PC, EDI, and reports development support.
Cross-trains in additional responsibilities.
Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
May write functional/design specifications.
Implements the report or data capture routine based on specifications.
Researches data processing practices and procedures and develops solutions and recommendations for improvement.
Interfaces with vendors when outsourcing programming development functions.
Provides technical training to the information systems staff.
Provides internal and external customer consulting to resolve system issues.
Designs project plans, which identify needs and define major tasks and milestones, based on scope, resources, budget, and personnel.
Determines project needs and acquires resources required for the success of the project.
Establishes systems specifications and objectives, based on business requirements and cost effectiveness, and provides recommendations to management.
Develops test plans and coordinates and performs software testing.
Facilitates and performs resolution activities to minimize business impact and avoid future exposure; informs and updates management and business partners of business implications associated with those events.
May have responsibility for database and application support which would involve gathering statistics, monitoring and tuning databases as well as installing and upgrading databases.
Administers, maintains, develops and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the Company’s databases.
Provides support to systems analysts and programmers in relation to database issues.
Manages database issues and performance as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Prior knowledge or ability to learn and stay up-to-date with Deringer’s systems and methods of operation. IT experience in data mapping such as parts uploads, entry upload, order, etc. Familiarity with cores (ie: ESP, CM, WM) Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of management and staff with the Client and Deringer organization(s). Proficient in Microsoft office products (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). Prior experience conducting training. Travel required. Willingness to sign a non-compete/non-disclosure agreement.
