Transparent Sky specializes in a variety of technologies centered around precision imaging systems that work under many types of field conditions. Its main products are Wide Area Motion Imaging (WAMI) systems which create “maps in motion” for applications like traffic analysis and security. WAMI applications include crowd control, traffic studies, forensic crime-solving, emergency response, disaster relief, and major events. WAMI systems can also provide dense 3D models, automated tracking of vehicles and people, and super-resolved imagery.

In addition to WAMI and gimbal systems, Transparent Sky makes many types of related products, including an earth imaging spacecraft, ground-based tracking systems for the military, and systems for inspecting infrastructure such as life-critical structures and pipelines
The Mechatronic Engineer will be responsible for designing and troubleshooting equipment that will be used in Transparent Sky’s next generation of WAMI systems. In this job, you will work with to develop production-level machine vision systems and using photogrammetry algorithms and optimize their performance for deployment on drones. Your activities will focus on hardware development and along with a limited amount of coding. We are well-funded through government contracts, as well as sales of products through a partner company. In addition to opportunities for leadership, we offer an unprecedented view of the entire process of design, coding, test, flight, and evaluation.
We need engineers with experience in:
- 3D CAD/CAM
- Robotic system design
- Electronic design
- Vision systems
Greater consideration will be given to applicants familiar in the following:
- Web Assembly
- OpenGL and WebGL
- Profiling/performance of code
- Visual Studio
- Embedded Linux (nVidia Tegra)
- Sparse Matrices: CERES Solver, Eigen, Suite Sparse, etc.
- Deep learning: e.g. PyTorch
- IP networking (Websockets and UDP)
