A quick summary about the Part Time Audio Engineer Assistant (A2) role:
The A2 Audio Engineer is primarily responsible for working with the A1/Lead Audio Engineer to pre-plan, setup/strike, and operate small/large sound systems utilized in support of events at the Amway Center. The A2 will support various events at Amway Center with primary support for, but not limited to Orlando Magic Basketball games.
What the Part Time Audio Engineer Assistant (A2) will be responsible for:
Work with A1 and/or Assistant Director of AV Services to establish audio needs for a show/event.
Determine the equipment required to successfully support show/event.
Prepare and deploy audio equipment to specified event location for audio support.
Setup of microphones, cabling, monitors, and other AV equipment required to fully support live audio aspects of a show/event.
Will provide audio support during the event, rehearsals, meeting, etc.
Ensure microphones are ready and assigned to performers/speakers at the appropriate time.
Work with A1 to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise.
Tear down audio equipment and return in a safe and timely manner.
At times assume as an A1 during an event by operating the console and FOH equipment
Able to perform minor repair and/or modifications of AV equipment during show/event
Setting up equipment and mixing monitors for bands/performance groups (conventional and IEM).
All other duties as assigned
What the Part Time Audio Engineer Assistant (A2) needs to have:
College degree in a related field or equivalent experience required
Experience working with live bands required
Significant experience with digital audio consoles required.
2 years of professional audio experience preferred.
Strong understanding of audio signal flow principles and troubleshooting
Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.
Strong team synergy skills and ability to work collaboratively with others whom you have no direct authority over.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the department.
Capability to stand, walk, kneel and/or crouch for long periods of time
Capability to climb ladders and scaffolding
Capability to lift in excess of 50 pounds
Capability to work in heights over 100 feet
Capability to work in small cramped places
Capability to push equipment racks and carts long distances
