Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is prefeered at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Strategy Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and organizational skills required to coordinate with the program and government staff. The Strategy Engineer must have:
Strong communications skills
Strong experience cultivating and maintaining relationships, and team leadership
Ability to understand and analyze user needs and requirements
Experience presenting capability demonstrations
Experience presenting technical concepts to a variety of audiences
Conversational knowledge of key enabling technologies for Department of Defense (DoD) customers’ missions
Experience with DoD missions and Intelligence Community missions and intelligence systems, in particular Multi-Int systems, motion GEOINT systems (FMV, GMTI, VMTI, WAMI, LIDAR), DCGS, and others currently within the customer spaces
The position is the strategy engineer in support of growing our market share within the intelligence community and DoD. The candidate will work with customers and industry partners and draw upon the broader capabilities of General Dynamics (GD) to be successful. This position is both strategic and tactical, and requires substantial leadership in opportunity identification, as well as an ability to work independently on pursuing opportunities.
Develop and execute customer engagement strategies
Develop business cases to inform IRADs and new business opportunities
Interfaces with customers on technical and programmatic matters regarding program/products
Identify new customers and initiate contact
Develops customer relationships and develops new business within the market/program
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrates ability to work both independently and within highly motivated teams.
Experience in operational and/or business area within the Intelligence Community (IC), Air Force, Army, Navy, or Marine Corps is strongly desired
Knowledge of DoD missions, strategy, enabling technologies and government, academic, and industry participants in the evolving defense and markets is strongly preferred
Familiar with operational Motion GEOINT solutions deployed in the IC & DoD
Familiar with current technology trends (cloud, open services) and applications within IC and DoD
Significant knowledge of products and technologies including current and potential applications
Significant verbal and written communication skills
Significant knowledge of business objectives proposal techniques, and business development for new business
Ability to develop and execute strategy plans
Significant knowledge of government contracting practices and regulations regarding acquisition
Outstanding relationship management and marketing skills
Ability to guide/mentor others within the intelligence operations discipline
Will interact frequently with internal personnel and outside representatives at various levels
Will be required to travel
PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to meet senior level expectations.
