A hardware engineer at ST Engineering iDirect works within the engineering department in a SCRUM team using agile framework. He/she will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills and works well in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and document board level hardware design from concept through to production.
Coordinate and participate in hardware product development activities.
Perform lab testing and troubleshooting as needed.
Take a collaborative design and validation approach in working with multi-functional team of PCB, hardware, mechanical, firmware, software, system test, production test and mechanical engineers.
Participate in sustaining engineering activities, including modifying and enhancing existing designs.
Attend and participate in system-level design meetings in order to address design issues early in the product development process.
Provide training and support as required to manufacturing and test staff.
Mentor or help junior members of the team.

Qualifications:
Experience in developing board level digital hardware.
Proven results of having contributed to entire product development life cycle.
Experience with designing and debugging high speed digital designs such as embedded processors, DDR, SERDES (e.g. PCIe, Gigabit Ethernet).
Experience with designing boards that include FPGAs and experience with interfacing to FPGAs.
Experience with using signal integrity analysis tools (e.g. Hyperlynx) is desirable.
Experience with board power design including the use of DC/DC converters and LDOs. Experience with implementing complex power sequencing is desirable.
Experience with schematic capture software. Experience using Mentor schematic tools is desirable.
Appreciation for DFx (design for cost, test, manufacturing).
Experience in hybrid RF/Digital PCB board layout is desirable.
Familiarity with electronics manufacturing processes is desirable.
Familiarity with IP Networking protocols and standards is desirable.
Having a communications background is desirable.
