The position of Project Engineer (PE) provides engineering and technical support, guidance, and leadership on assigned projects in accordance with the project scope, to the Project Manager and all supporting internal departments, customers, suppliers, and subcontracted design agents
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

PE is responsible for meeting the project contract requirements within a defined quality program. The PE will operate in accordance with established GMD guidelines, and participate heavily in: detailing/design planning, EVMS reporting, shop issue resolutions, and fabrication planning.
Execution and control of contract requirements into GMD working documents, such as; production control and procedures, purchase orders, receiving instructions, and supplier management.
PE supports the Project Manager in monitoring and controlling performance and collaborating in making course corrections where necessary to meet project schedule, cost, quality, safety and corporate goals
Respond to change productively and contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Job Scope: Operates within general parameters, but must use sound judgment and independent decision making when carrying out job responsibilities. Has the ability to influence and recommend modifying existing protocols. Failure to meet the expectations of the customer could result in significant loss of future business.
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Interpersonal Contacts: The PE coordinates his/her efforts with managers and supervisors at all levels of a specific project. The position represents the Company through formal and informal interactions with the customer. Additionally, the individual contacts regulatory body officials and industry peers
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to organize and manage workloads.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work autonomously and effectively manage priorities during business travel.
Ability to proactively interface with production personnel as primary customer due to constant interaction with shop production staff to ensure contract requirements are meet.
PC skills required, including use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Travel: 30-50% including air travel
Education and/or Experience:
Engineering Degree with focus in industrial or mechanical disciplines or similar experience in steel fabrication projects for the nuclear or aerospace industries. Approximately three years of experience is preferred, but not required. Experience in a fabrication environment, preferably job-shop or general contract companies, individuals with a strong fabrication background/builder-mentality and a strong technical skills/aptitude
