Project Manager, Construction

With broad direction, the Project Manager, Construction is responsible for managing all on site functions in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the company on medium-sized projects (typically 250,000 to 2 million construction man hours or building projects of $15 to $75 million).

This position is located at a client site in Cedar Rapids, IA. Relocation assistance will be considered for qualified candidates. Qualified candidate m ust have the ability to travel up to 75% during the initial development of the program. Travel will continue as needed to support the efforts at the sites.


Project setup and subcontracting strategy, shop drawing review and processing, contract changes, owner/architect/engineer daily relations, subcontractor relations, and all required owner and in-house reporting
Supervises all personnel at the site, through subordinate leaders
May serve as the proposal manager of medium-sized construction projects or handle bid packages on larger projects
Establish C.M needs at multiple facilities and sites within the Midwest, Northeast and Southeast regions
Hire, manage and oversee employees at multiple sites
Have overall responsibly for capital projects
Interact with the client and site teams


Must have strong Construction Management background, preferred with the chemical industry
12+ years of experience preferred
An undergraduate degree in appropriate discipline preferred
Thorough understanding of project delivery processes, including FEL, safety, quality, schedule and cost control.
Ability to oversee multiple employees within the region.
Understand and manage safety, quality, and schedules
Ability to lead a project team consisting of KBR and client personnel
Ability to communicate written and verbally to client, team and management
Must be able to maintain positive relationship through communication with the client
Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing, spreadsheets and applications

Physical Qualifications

Work includes field walk downs which require the following activities:

extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces.
Some lifting may be required.
Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
