Constellium’s Bowling Green’s facility supplies advanced 5xxx and 6xxx alloys and provides aluminum coils and sheets for automotive applications such as closures inners, outers and body-in-white.

The Automation Engineer will be accountable for all the tasks related to verification all automation programs meet technical specifications and develop and maintain long term automation strategies to optimize asset availability.

Job Duties:
Lead all test (design and execution) for FAT and I/O test (Function checklists and performance verification)
Drive engineering wide efforts for automation frameworks, processes, and practices.
Create and update function libraries, applications, automation scripts and data files (detailed documentation of all changes)
Drive review and approval of automation plans with the team.
Establish effective functional tests.
Be the primary interface between all automation suppliers (equipment, MES, etc) and the team.
Participate in the industrial tests done at vendor sites.
Optimize equipment automation in coordination with operation during ramp up
Develop clear understanding of equipment intended function, communicate understanding to project team.
Be the primary point of contact with the different equipment suppliers; refine needs, challenge solutions, follow up during different project phases from description analysis to testing & commissioning
Develop clear understanding of architecture for the plant in terms of networks, communication paths, protocols, and address management.
Assist in training of other team members on automation standards and processes.
Work closely with business stakeholders such as the EPCM to insure information transparency.
Verify all automation programs meet technical specifications.
Refine the interfaces between Level 3 and Level 2
Supervise supplier interventions and challenge solutions and refine needs.
Participate in process optimization.
Debug potential automation issues
Identify and select supplier for maintenance assistance
Manage safety PLC (modifications, safety analysis validation)
Follow up all modifications done to the PLC program using highly structured method
Optimize all Level 2 systems with the process engineer.
Define long term asset availability strategies for automation after commissioning.
Improve operations and maintenance interface (work stations and HMI)
Perform functional analysis and verification

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of technical degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation or Robotics Engineering)
A minimum of 8 years hands-on experience as an Automation Engineer or Technician supporting a 24/7 aluminum (highly preferred) or steel rolling or processing line operation is required
5-10 Years of experience dealing with PLC Programming, VFD’s, HMI, Servo, and Control Networks
Strong Electronics and Controls experience a must (Siemens S7 Controllers preferred)
Industrial Maintenance Experience preferred
Troubleshooting and Root-Cause Analysis Experience
Strong verbal communication skills is a must
Must be familiar with ISA-95 enterprise integration model
Must be familiar with MES architecture
Level 1 Expert Level is a plus
Development under: Ladder Logic, Structured Text, C#, and Function Block
Drive regulation understanding (tension, speed)
Must be proficient MS Excel, MS Word and familiar with MS Project
