Our client in Austin is on the leading edge of semiconductor manufacturing technology and they are looking to add an entry / mid level Engineer in a unique role. The person in this position will be doing process work to facilitate transition of novel thin film coating techniques into semiconductor manufacturing tools, as well as leveraging existing corporate capabilities / IP to identify new potential applications. JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Utilize DOE’s and other techniques to identify and optimize significant factors in a thin film coating process for novel semiconductor applications
- Operate and own an unpatterned wafer defect inspection tool, along with using other thin film analytical tools such as SEM, AFM, etc.
- Assist in assembly / disassembly, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of prototype wafer manufacturing tools
- Demonstrate how our technology works to the customer and train them to use prototype and production tools
- Maintain awareness of internal technical capabilities, as well as semiconductor industry trends to identify white space opportunities and potential solutions in semiconductor wafer manufacturing process / tools / materials; generate IP as appropriate
- Generate and present project updates, communicate effectively with various internal teams
- Normal hours are M – F ~8 am – 5 pm; up to 20% domestic and international travel
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. in physical sciences / engineering along with 2-5 years relevant experience; MS candidates with also be considered
- Must maintain up to date knowledge of internal capabilities and semiconductor industry trends; someone with significant natural curiosity, a broad knowledge background and ability to think outside the box is an ideal candidate
- Experience running and interpreting DOE’s; JMP software is preferred but other DOE programs are also fine
- MATLAB, VBA scripting and other programming languages is helpful
- The successful person in this position will have a combination of intellectual curiosity and “get-stuff-done” mentality required for a role where you will be simultaneously identifying new areas of R&D while doing final tweaking of existing prototype and early production systems
- Must have excellent communication skills – both verbal and written

Pay: $95,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
