Firestone Polymers, LLC is headquartered in Lake Charles, LA and manufactures polymers and synthetic rubber in our world-class ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 registered plant located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Firestone's unique anionic polymerization technology allows production of high purity, high molecular weight polybutadiene and a wide range of block, random, and vinyl modified styrene-butadiene copolymers. These products are sold around the world for use in tires, impact modification of plastics and hot melt adhesives. Statistical process control is used in every step of the operation. Environmental Engineering focuses on designing engineering solutions to mitigate environmental hazards in the workplace and broader community including:
- Designing and administering environmental safety and pollution prevention programs in accordance with organization, regulatory, and labor union requirements/agreements
- Conducting environmental engineering studies and preparing environmental impact reports for new construction projects, plant processes, and permits
• Reviewing and analyzing environmental documentation issued by regulatory agencies •Evaluating proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public, and environmental impact
- Working with external regulators to resolve compliance issues
- Responsible for LDAR reporting and management
- Leads large projects or processes of complex scope, with limited oversight from manager
- Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower level professionals
- Assists in the development of operational plan and implements for areas of assigned responsibilities
- Identifies continuous improvement/automation activities and makes frequent recommendations based on detailed analyses and applying results to drive improvements
- Adapts precedent and may holistically change standard operating procedures to develop new solutions
- Supports relationships through strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Chemical plant experience would be a plus
- Other duties as assigned
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent work experience
