Schneider Engineering and Consulting Company, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Senior Marine Structural Engineer in Houston, TX. This position is accountable for providing senior level structural design engineering support for the construction of marine and heavy civil structures for Orion and its affiliates. Typical projects may include port facilities, wharves, liquid cargo terminals, bridges and causeways, container terminals, cruise terminals, bulkheads, docks, piers or marinas. The incumbent will typically work with Engineers and Project Management team members on a regular basis.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Participate in preparation of technical proposals, presentation, negotiations, and staff fee estimates.
- Lead the growth and development of our team by providing mentorship, technical guidance, and participation in the hiring and evaluation of junior staff.
- Perform business development and general marketing activities. Maintain positive client relationships.
- Works with the VP of Engineering and Engineering and Structural Design team to achieve departmental business goals and objectives.
- Interfaces with engineering and project team members and/or customer/client to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the engineering services being requested.
- Applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assigned engineering projects.
- Performs structural engineering analysis and design of new and existing marine structures (bulkheads, sheet-pile walls, retaining walls, concrete wharves and mooring/breasting dolphins).
- Uses advanced engineering techniques in the application or modification of services
- provided.
- Performs finite element structural modeling of marine structures (SAP or STAAD).
- Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
- Develops new techniques and/or improved processes for design projects.
- Provides technical advice on safe designs and construction.
- Reviews and approves scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments.
- Prepares bid package proposals for upcoming engineering and project work.
- Represents the Company at industry-wide conferences and symposiums.

Position Requirements:
- BS Degree Structural Engineering and a minimum of twenty (20) years of work experience is required.
- Must have a current Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- The incumbent must have a working knowledge of Project Engineering Standards, Marine Construction Materials, Procurement, Estimating, Scheduling, Project Tracking Software, Cost Control, Engineering and Project Standards, and Safety and Environmental Compliance.
- Candidate must currently live in or be willing to relocate to the location of the office where the position is advertised.
- Ability to travel overnight both domestically and internationally on occasion may be required.
- Must have the ability to quickly learn the technical aspects of the business; be an effective communicator; have the ability to interface well with employees at all levels of the organization; and possess a high degree of personal integrity.
- Discretion and trustworthiness, and the ability to keep all Company information and materials strictly confidential (both internally and externally) are essential elements of this position.
- Must be well organized, diligent, and be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision and to independently identify work to be done. Must be flexible and have the ability to adjust to sudden changes in work priorities. The incumbent must also have the ability to prioritize work generally and in order to accommodate those changes. Attention to detail and extreme care in performing tasks accurately and carefully are also essential.
