D.J. Kuhn Boat Yard Services is a single-owner boat repair company that has served the Detroit area for over 30 years. We specialize in shrink wrapping, gel coat matching, and wood and fiberglass repair. We are looking to hire a skilled part-time or full-time marine apprentice assistant to inspect, service, and repair boats for our clients.
As a boatyard assistant, you will be responsible for traveling to the boatyard and other places where vessels are located, as well as for troubleshooting and making major and minor repairs. To ensure success in this role, you should have excellent attention to detail and strong self-discipline. An outstanding marine assistant demonstrates great hand-eye coordination and should be able to follow verbal instructions. Responsibilities: Cleaning, sanding, repairing, and maintaining all parts of boat and boatyard equipment.
Scraping away old paint and debris from vessels. Requirements: High school diploma or GED. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Non-smoking applicants are strongly preferred.
Practical experience with tools and equipment used in marine maintenance. Good verbal communication skills. Good customer service skills. A willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback.
