Full performance level in the secretarial occupation under direction requiring considerable knowledge of Clerical and administrative procedures in order to provide secretarial support and perform a variety of Administrative tasks to County Engineer's Department. Incumbent reports to designated Engineers and Surveyors in the Design, Plat, Traffic, Construction and Survey Review Departments.
Summary of Job Duties
Serves as administrative support to Montgomery County Engineer Management Staff. Uses automated office systems to perform administrative tasks (e.g., using word processing, spreadsheet, and other software, produces typed copy of routine and confidential correspondence reports, proofreads material for accuracy and completeness, corrects grammar, punctuation and spelling, maintains confidential files, maintains calendar, , takes minutes of meetings, handles sensitive telephone calls, channels calls to appropriate parties. Performs clerical tasks (e.g., receives, opens, logs, distributes incoming mail, answers phone and screens calls, greets and directs visitors, acts as receptionist, maintains files and retrieves information, prepares routine forms, prepares purchase orders and prepares and assembles contracts as required, types resolutions and assist with the public bidding process for construction projects. Familiarity with the construction industry a plus.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Position requires completion of secondary education with training in office practice and procedures, general business or related discipline or an equivalent combination of five years related work experience is acceptable in place of training. Must have computer experience, proficient in advanced word processing, database and graphics software, spreadsheets using Excel. PowerPoint is desirable,
