We are seeking an individual with a strong background in aeromechanics who will be dedicated to solving a broad range of critical challenges in the area of strategic deterrents. The Sentinel / Ground Base Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) missile represents the modernization of the ground-based leg of the nuclear triad. We are seeking a GBSD Missile Aeromechanical Engineer to work closely with NXAB [Aerospace Vehicle (AVE)] Booster Branch at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. The GBSD AVE Division (NXA) is charged with government oversight of development and performance evaluation for the entire flight portion of GBSD, including the missile boost and post-boost phases.

Provide leadership in the areas of plumes, aerodynamics and aerothermal analysis related to subsonic, supersonic, and hypersonic missile configurations from launch to termination
- Support booster development, propulsion system development, M&S modeling development, flight testing, and wind tunnel testing for the design of new flight vehicles
- Support the development, prototyping, testing, and performance evaluation of the GBSD missile

Support the NXAB AVE Branch Chief in engineering and integration activities

Serve as a key thought leader and engage the GBSD sponsor in support of maturing technical tasks, including AVE performance evaluation

Interface with guidance/accuracy, performance evaluation, post boost, and reentry systems/reentry vehicle (RS/RV) APL counterparts and the supporting organizations within the GBSD program

Interface with NXT (GBSD Test Division) Test Manager directly supporting NXA

Support AVE test development and qualification activities, including ground and flight tests

Engage APL staff in Laurel for technical reach back to support GBSD sponsor analysis requests
Qualifications

Have a BS degree in engineering or a related technical field with 5 or more years of relevant work experience

Have pertinent experience with missile systems and/or reentry systems

Have experience with and an understanding of Navy and/or Air Force strategic weapons systems

Have strong technical skills and the ability to operate effectively in multi-organizational teams in a dynamic and evolving landscape

Are a thought leader with a keen ability to influence others

Are able to effectively craft the day-to-day tasking to meet sponsor needs, multi-task, and adapt to changing demands with minimal guidance

Have exceptionally strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, and ability to interface with senior military and civil service personnel

Are willing to conduct routine travel to Hill AFB (up to 50% of the time), with periodic travel to contractor sites, and to other locations.

Hold an active an active Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
