The primary purpose of the Recipe Developer is to develop and test recipes with the ultimate objective of a positive customer experience. The successful Recipe Developer embraces test baking best practices and demonstrates an appreciation for the standards that King Arthur Baking looks to uphold in the quality of our products and our recipes.
The Senior Recipe Developer pitches, develops, edits, and tests recipe content for King Arthur Baking Company publications and its website. The Senior Recipe Developer can dream up – and then deliver – a recipe that our customers will immediately want to bake and that yields great results. The Senior Recipe Developer demonstrates an appreciation for the standards that King Arthur Baking Company upholds in the quality of our products and recipes through meticulous recipe formulation and test baking best practices. The individual in this position reports to the Recipe Testing and Development Manager and works closely with employee-owners across several departments, including Editorial, Brand, Innovation, Direct to Consumer, and Customer Service.
This position may be hired at either the Recipe Developer or Sr. Recipe Developer level based on the candidates' experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Proactively and regularly pitch and develop new recipes that fit into the team and company goals.
Take on recipe assignments for a wide range of business objectives, including product support and SEO.
Work with outside contributors and freelancers to diversify our recipe content and ensure that all recipes meet King Arthur’s rigorous standards, inspire bakers, and contribute to the baking conversation.
Provide comprehensive testing and development support to King Arthur’s content team.
Work collaboratively with test kitchen stakeholders to analyze and troubleshoot recipes and determine the appropriate next steps.
Sr. Recipe Developer:
All of the above noted responsibilities
Conduct and facilitate recipe development and testing in accordance with King Arthur Baking’s test kitchen processes.
Collaborate with other Editorial team members to craft and execute campaigns: creating recipe lineups, working with the Creative department on photo shoots, and generally ensuring that the recipe portion of the campaign is best in class and delivered on time.
Ensure that testing and development projects are processed and delivered in a timely manner with utmost accuracy and attention to detail.
Engage in cross-company communication and collaboration by participating in Editorial and Test Kitchen team meetings and ongoing baking-related training.
Participate in weekly sensory tastings and use team feedback to create recipes that consistently deliver great results.

Minimum job requirements
Culinary degree or 3+ years of baking experience in a professional kitchen
3+ years of professional baking experience, including testing and developing; 5+ years at the Sr. Recipe Developer level.
Demonstrated skills in high-level baking processes and techniques, with broad knowledge of baking science and ingredient interactions
Comfortable working in Microsoft SharePoint and with Microsoft Word documents, a plus
Basic knowledge of Asana OR comfortable learning new computer applications
