Buzzi Unicem USA, a major US cement manufacturer, is looking for an Environmental Engineer to join our Stockertown, PA team. We believe our employees are our greatest asset. In support of our growth, we are seeking to hire an experienced Environmental Engineer, who will be responsible for managing the environmental programs that include regulatory reporting, monitoring and record keeping, as well as interpreting and providing directions on environmental regulations as they pertain to plant activities.
The Environmental Engineer will be responsible for performing routine environmental sampling, conducting required inspections and maintaining necessary records. The candidate selected must prepare and submit compliance reports monthly, as well as prepare and maintain the annual environmental operating plans.
The incumbent must ensure all environmental permits/certificates are renewed in a timely manner and are kept up-to-date with any applicable facility changes. The candidate selected will be the primary contact with regulatory agencies, and must accompany regulatory representatives during site inspections/visits. The Environmental Engineer must stay educated in regards to the environmental regulatory changes with the potential to impact company operation, and to communicate these changes to the appropriate company management. The candidate must also continue self-improvement activities, especially in the area of new developments in environmental equipment and regulations. The incumbent must also provide training for the environmental program, which includes training and coordinating the environmental management team.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Environmental Engineering or related science
- At least 5 years of experience in a regulatory, enforcement of industrial/environmental setting
- Knowledge of CAA, CWA and RCRA regulations
- Familiar with cement manufacturing is preferred
- Strong communication and technical writing skills needed
- Proficient with Word, Excel and Access
- Good organizational skills, human relations and decision making abilities needed
