Position Summary

Summary:
Works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Engineer Supervisor. Performs the specific duties and general competencies required of the team and role for which s/he is assigned. Demonstrates basic knowledge of the job, activity or function, needs supervision or mentoring on advanced assignments. This is an entry-level position. Demonstrates ability to learn from others on the job. Can teach some basic skills to new hires or interns. Demonstrates sense of urgency and ownership, high degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity, enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work. Is committed to providing excellent end user technology support and customer service to staff, physicians, business partners, and vendors. May perform other duties as assigned.

Std WK Duties: Biomedical Engineer I
Under supervision, evaluates basic medical equipment issues and as assigned, implements appropriate repairs, rounds, performs Electrical Safety and Preventative Maintenance (PMs)
May assist other technicians on more complex assignments.
Flex time as required to meet department operational requirements
Maintains accurate and current records of medical equipment service, repairs and PMs.
May inspect incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards and manufacturer’s recommendations.
Resolves basic front-line customer service issues
Maintains proper care of all tools and test equipment
Attends and satisfactorily completes training and cross-trains other CE staff as appropriate

Qualifications & Experience

Education:
Essential:

Associate Degree

Education equivalent experience:
Essential:

Military training, or academic work aligned with AAMI Core Competencies and a basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, English and professional skills.

Other information:
Experience Essential:

Possesses basic understanding and skills related to general electro-mechanical systems and devices.
Can provide basic support of acuity equipment for direct patient care
Possesses minimal understanding of common clinical terminology as well as that of life sciences such as anatomy and physiology

Experience Preferred:

Currently pursuing Bio-Medical degree
Military Bio-Medical service experience
