Global Water Resources, Inc. is a leading water resource management company that owns and operates 16 utilities which provide water, wastewater, and recycled water services. The company’s service areas are located primarily in growth corridors around metropolitan Phoenix. Global Water recycles over 1 billion gallons of water annually. This position is based out of Maricopa, Arizona.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB
Licensed Engineer with a strong background in civil design with an emphasis on water and wastewater infrastructure. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, be highly organized, a good problem solver, efficient, have a good attention to detail and be a team player. The role of the position will focus on planning, design and construction management of water and wastewater infrastructure. This position is based out of Maricopa, AZ.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Lead multidisciplinary technical consulting engineering teams executing the planning, design and construction management of water and wastewater projects.
- Manage multiple projects, schedules, and budgets.
- Deliver complete design and project bid packages.
- Prepare internal layout and preliminary planning and design of systems.
- Review and critique reports, plans, and specifications
- Prepare internal cost estimates for budgeting.
- Review and critique consultant scopes of work and invoices as well as manage consultant communications.
- Assesses infrastructure needs based on current demands and projected future growth.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses and value engineering for projects.
- Effectively communicate with construction management department and contractors utilizing different construction delivery methods
- Effectively communicate with governmental agencies for permitting and approval of various systems
- Ensure infrastructure complies with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and codes.
- Provide operations with support and subject matter expertise on operational issues.
- Maintains knowledge and subject matter expertise on latest technologies.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with wells and water treatment, distribution, and storage systems
- Experience with wastewater treatment, collection, and pumping systems
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, computer-aided Design (CAD) software, and other relevant analytical, scientific, or monitoring software.
- Strong leadership, people, and communication skills
- Knowledge of current Arizona water and wastewater regulations and the ability to effectively communicate with multiple agencies.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Arizona required.
- At least 10 years of related water and wastewater experience
- Prefer prior consulting engineering design experience of municipal water and wastewater projects.
- Prefer prior construction management and field experience.
Minimum Requirements
Education or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent education and experience in management, communications, utility finance, public policy, accounting in a highly technical, regulated, and fast-paced environment. Advanced degrees and certifications a plus. At least ten years’ experience working in a rate regulated utility or similar setting.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting reports and presentations and public speaking.
Social Skills: Must act in a respectful, knowledgeable, and professional manner. Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of complex information; adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions; trying to reconcile differences; actively looking for ways to help people and Global Water be successful. Will interact with employees at all levels and represent Global Water externally.
Physical Demands: Must be able to perform the following on a regular basis: Sitting for extended periods; prolonged periods of time with repetitive motions of hands and fingers; close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
